Industry Overview
Seawater is one of the most aggressive corrosion environments on earth — and marine castings must survive in it for 25 years or more without replacement. The alloy selection decisions made at the design stage determine whether a propeller shaft survives its service life or fails prematurely. PrimeCast Global works with the marine alloys that classification societies and naval architects specify: nickel-aluminum bronze (NAB) for propellers and impellers, duplex 2205 and super duplex 2507 for seawater pump casings and valve bodies, and 316L stainless for deck hardware and fittings. Our centrifugal casting capability produces propeller shafts and cylindrical components up to 2,000kg with density that exceeds static casting. We support ABS, DNV GL, and Lloyd's Register classification requirements with full material certification, NDT inspection, and witnessing by classification society surveyors.
Common Industry Challenges
- →Seawater corrosion: standard stainless steels susceptible to pitting and crevice corrosion — duplex alloys required
- →Propeller and impeller cavitation erosion requires NAB or duplex alloys with high hardness
- →ABS, DNV GL, and Lloyd's Register classification requirements with surveyor witnessing
- →Large component sizes: propeller hubs and shaft flanges up to 2,000kg require centrifugal casting
- →Biofouling resistance for underwater components — NAB provides natural antifouling properties

Casting Precision & Tolerance Standards for Marine
For Marine applications, we manufacture to international standards with the following precision capabilities.
* Tolerances based on ISO 8062 / GB/T 6414 standards. Actual values depend on part geometry, material, and process parameters.
